Hello everyone,
I would like to discuss about the organisational set-up. As far as understood about the working, better form of organisation would be to form a non-profit organisation. Membership for the organisation should be from those for whom the work is going to perform. For any kind of association with the organisation, first they need to become a member. Membership either can be an individual membership or organisational membership. There should be 3 permanent members as well as 4 members in rotation in the Govering Board of the Organisation. It is necessary to state set of principles based on which the organisation is going to function like as follows:

1) Motto of the organisation;
2) Free consent from the members to work for the organisation in good faith;
3) Binding principles of the members;
4) Termination from the membership; etc.

Organisation's frame work should be formulated in international perspective. Hope after discussion with other members we can have a better organisational set-up.

GMD: "non-profit organisation", I would say not-for-profit, but also not-for-loss either.

We should formulate and publish guidelines on ethics and peer review. Ethics can include statements about Sayahna as an organization/entity (how we conduct ourselves etc), but there should be clear policies on the expectations of ethical behaviour by authors, including, and particularly, plagiarism. Intertwined into this is, of course, the ethical behaviour expected of referees and editors. Clearly, the specifics of peer review will vary by journal but it would be a positive move to have some general guidelines that Sayahna as an entity subscribes to (lack of bias/prejudice etc). Personally, I think these all contribute to projecting the "right image".

Sadly, the rise of open access has caused a proliferation of amateur, shoddy and "predatory" open access publishers. * '''copy editor''' — someone who corrects the spelling, punctuation, layout and so forth.
* '''content editor''' — someone familiar with the academic field of the article who edits the article for matters of intellectual content. The referee does this to some extent. The editor or someone on the editorial board may also do it. But it might be someone else, entirely.
GMD: I would also suggest that to enhance professional standing/perception (e.g., in library community), participation in LOCKSS (http://www.lockss.org/about/what-is-lockss/), for example, should be considered.
==Free/libre software==

We shall use only free/libre software wherever possible. We don't expect to make use of any proprietary software for text processing. However, in rare case of complex raster image processing where free/libre software may not have the requisite equivalent, we might resort to some proprietary software, but will strive hard to get back to free software as soon as the equivalent is available.

The entire [http://www.sayanha.net Sayanha] network, desktops and servers run on GNU/Linux operating system.
==TeX and friends for text processing==

TeX (and its variants like pdfTeX, XeTeX and LuaTeX) is the principal engine for typesetting. We will not use any other typesetting system or proprietary system for the purpose.
The following is from [https://secure.river-valley.com/wiki/index.php?title=Open_Access_Journals_Portal Dominik's entry in River Valley wiki]

* '''author''' — person who writes an article.
* '''publisher''' — [http://www.sayahna.org Sayanha] by default, but ''publisher'' transferrable to someone else for a fee.
* '''editor''' — someone typically at a university department, supported by an editorial board.
* '''copy editor''' — someone who corrects the spelling, punctuation, layout and so forth.
* '''referee''' — someone organized by the editor who produces a judgement on the publication-worthiness of the article.
* '''content editor''' — someone familiar with the academic field of the article who edits the article for matters of intellectual content. The referee does this to some extent. The editor or someone on the editorial board may also do it. But it might be someone else, entirely.
* '''(journal) secretary''' — often the editor's departmental secretary, but sometimes a fully-funded person, who does all the real work of correspondence and organization. Some of this functionality will be offered by [http://www.sayahna.org Sayanha].
* '''journal manager|production editor|secretary''' —
* '''printer''' — Need to locate print on demand service providers from US, UK and India.
* '''designer''' — Shall be provided by the Editorial Board of the journal.
* '''distributor''' — company who warehouses and delivers physical copies of printed journal.
* '''A+I vendor''' — include third-party companies that provide crucial ''discoverability'' services such as Scopus (Elsevier) and Thomson-Reuters (Web of Science). It is vital to ensure RVT platforms provide data feeds to these, and others.
