Use this template to indicate that there are currently zero [[WP:Inline citation|inline citations]] in the article. For articles with both inline citations and a list of [[WP:CITE#General_reference|general references]], use {{tl|more footnotes}} instead. For articles that do not contain general references, but which need a greater number of citations, use {{tl|refimprove}}.<br />

The two most popular forms are [[WP:CITE#Footnotes|clickable footnotes]] (<nowiki><ref> tags</nowiki>, which produce numbered footnotes like this: <sup>[1]</sup>) and [[WP:PAREN|parenthetical references]] (e.g., <code>(Smith 2010)</code>). One way to use this parameter is <code>{{Tlx|No footnotes|<nowiki>{{subst:DATE}}</nowiki>}}</code> but it can be done more explicitly as <code>{{Tlx|No footnotes|date{{=}}{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}</code> (both result in the same output). If the parameter is left off a [[WP:BOT|bot]] will add it within a day or so. <br />

The template also has an optional {{para|BLP}} parameter. If its value is <var>yes</var>, this will indicate that the article is a [[WP:BLP|biography of a living person]], which have higher standards for further reading and external links.<br />
