സാഹിത്യവാരഫലം 1991 07 14 — തെളിഞ്ഞ പുലര്‍വേള. ഞാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വീട്ടില്‍ച്ചെന്നു വാതില്ക്കല്‍ പതുക്കെ തട്ടി. ശബ്ദം കേട്ടു പരിചാരിക വന്നു. കതകു തുറന്നു. ചെറുപ്പക്കാരി, കാണാന്‍ കൊള്ളാവുന്നവള്‍. ആ സൗന്ദര്യത്തിന് അഭിനന്ദനമെന്ന പോലെ ഒരു പുഞ്ചിരി അവള്‍ക്കു സമ്മാനിച്ചിട്ട് ഞാന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു: “അദ്ദേഹമില്ലേ?” “ഉണ്ട്” എന്നു കിളിനാദം. അതു പ്രസരിപ്പിച്ചിട്ട് അവള്‍ വാതില്‍പ്പടിയില്‍ കയറി വിലങ്ങനെ നില്പായി. ആ നില്പ് വകവയ്ക്കാതെ ഞാന്‍ അകത്തേക്കു കയറിയെങ്കില്‍ ആരോ പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ അത് ‘അഡള്‍റ്ററി’ — വ്യഭിചാരം — ആകുമായിരുന്നു. എങ്കിലും ഹനുമാനെപ്പോലെ ശരീരം വലുതാക്കാനും ചെറുതാക്കാനും ഉള്ള സിദ്ധി എനിക്കുണ്ടായെങ്കില്‍ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ കൊതിച്ചു പോയി. അതുണ്ടായിരുന്നെങ്കില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ദേഹം വലുതാക്കിക്കൊണ്ട് അകത്തേക്കു കയറുമായിരുന്നു. പക്ഷേ സാമാന്യമര്യാദയുടെ പേരില്‍ ശരീരം ആവുന്നത്ര ചെറുതാക്കികൊണ്ട് ഞാന്‍ വാതില്‍ താണ്ടി. ആ സമയത്ത് അവള്‍ സിദ്ധിവിശേഷംകൊണ്ട് സ്വന്തം ശരീരമൊന്നു വലുതാക്കി. ഡി.എച്ച്. ലോറന്‍സിനെപ്പോലെ “You touched me” എന്നു പറയണമെന്ന് എനിക്കു തോന്നിയെങ്കിലും പറഞ്ഞില്ല. ഞാന്‍ എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ മുന്‍പിലേക്ക് ആനയിക്കപ്പെട്ടു. “സരോജം ചായ കൊണ്ടുവരൂ” എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം അവളോടു പറഞ്ഞപ്പോള്‍ ‘അനംഗന്ന് ആയിരം വില്ലൊടിഞ്ഞു’ എന്ന് എനിക്കു തോന്നി. അവള്‍ കുറച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞ് കുണുങ്ങിക്കുണുങ്ങി നടന്നു ചായ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു. അതു കുടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ ഞാനറിയാതെ അകത്തെ മുറിയിലേക്ക് ഒന്നു നോക്കിപ്പോയി. “സ്ത്രീരൂപിയാം കദനമോയിവളെന്നു തോന്നും” എന്ന മട്ടില്‍ ഒരാള്‍. എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ ഭാര്യ. അവര്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ മുന്‍പില്‍ വരാന്‍ ധൈര്യപ്പെടുന്നില്ല. സഹതാപത്തിന്റെ ഒരു നേരിയ രശ്മി ആ സ്ത്രീരൂപത്തിലേക്ക് എന്റെ നേത്രത്തില്‍ നിന്നു പോകുന്നതു കണ്ടിട്ടാവണം അദ്ദേഹം അരുളി ചെയ്തു. “മിസ്റ്റര്‍ കൃഷ്ണന്‍ നായര്‍, എഴുതണമെങ്കില്‍ പ്രചോദനം വേണം. ആ പ്രചോദനം യുവത്വത്തില്‍നിന്നേ ലഭിക്കൂ. അതില്‍ ഭാര്യ തടസ്സം സൃഷ്ടിക്കരുത്. തടസ്സമുണ്ടാക്കിയാല്‍ അതു വകവയ്ക്കുകയുമരുത്.” അകത്തു നില്ക്കുന്ന രൂപത്തെ നോക്കി ഞാന്‍ വീണ്ടും സങ്കടപ്പെട്ടു. എഴുത്തുകാരനായ ആ ദശാനനനെ ഞാന്‍ വെറുക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. എങ്കിലും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സഹായം ആ കാലയളവില്‍ എനിക്കു വേണമായിരുന്നു. അതുകൊണ്ട് മാര്‍ത്താണ്ഡവര്‍മ്മയ്ക്കു രാമയ്യന്‍ ദളവയെന്നപോലെ, ധര്‍മ്മരാജാവിനു കേശവപിള്ളയെന്നപോലെ, സി.പി. രാമസ്വാമി അയ്യര്‍ക്കു ചിദംബരമെന്ന പോലെ ഞാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തിനു സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. സ്ത്രീയുടെ ദുഃഖത്തെ ഞാനിന്നു മഹാദുഃഖമായി കാണുന്നതിനു കാരണം ആ വീട്ടിനകത്തു കണ്ട കദനരൂപം തന്നെയാണ്. പുരുഷന്റെ ക്രൂരതയെ വലിയ ക്രൂരതയായി ഞാന്‍ ചിത്രീകരിക്കുന്നതിനു ഹേതു ആ എഴുത്തുകാരന്റെ പ്രചോദനകേന്ദ്രത്തെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള പ്രസ്താവമാണ്. All the works of Prof M Krishna Nair comprising of 24 books, his famed weekly literary column that uninterruptedly spanned a period of 36 years and other articles on literary criticism that appeared in various periodicals will be published by Sayahna under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-Non-commercial 4.0. Mrs J Vijayamma, wife of the late writer had kindly consented for the same, a kind act which the entire Malayalam speaking population would be ever thankful for.
Ulloor
Sayahna have published the first two volumes of history of Malayalam Literature, written by Ulloor S Parameswara Iyer has been published in PDF format and is also available in mediawiki format as well. The remaining three volumes have not yet been into public domain and as such Sayahna couldn't release those volumes. The books have been out of print for several years and the University of Kerala, the original publishers of the volumes, do not seem to re-publish it any more. Sayahna would request the reading public to put a gentle pressure on University of Kerala to make available all volumes of History of Literature by Ulloor S Parameswara Iyer in public domain so that Sayahna Foundation, Wikisource, aor other similar organizations can make these useful volumes to the public for free.

Experimental page of an article namely, Cross-Connections, written by renowned mathematician, Prof. KSS Nambooripad is available for readers to get a grip of how mathematics can be rendered in Mediawiki. MathJax is the principal engine that renders mathematical formulae and equations from sources that are marked up in TeX. This is to augment ourselves for the release of his larger volume of research work on Semigroups and Biordered Sets.
