Parameters (example {{Cat topic year|Alabama elections, |2010}} shown at right):
- 1 - The prefix which appears before the year in the category name, including trailing space if any
- 2 - The primary year for the center element of the links
- 3 - The suffix which appears after the year in the category name, including leading space if any
The template will show up to three earlier and three later categories, checking up to five years at each step.
