Prolog

This is a project to create standard set of fonts in Malayalam language open type format for general use in web, computers, typesetting and print. The fonts shall have following salient features:

1. shall have comprehensive set of Malayalam glyphs as provided in Unicode version 6.3.
2. shall have the following weights and shapes:
   1. normal or medium
   2. medium italic
   3. bold
   4. bold italic
3. following variants will be added in future:
   1. thin, light, semi bold, extra bold, heavy, black
   2. condensed and bold condensed
   3. narrow regular, condensed, wide and extra wide
4. fonts shall have all the essential open type features required for Indic fonts like:
   1. Above-base Forms abvf S1
   2. Above-base Mark Positioning abvm P4,5
   3. Above-base Substitutions abvs S4
   4. Akhand akhn S4
   5. Below-base Forms blwf S4
   6. Below-base Mark Positioning blwm P4,5
   7. Below-base Substitutions blws S4
   8. Conjunct Forms cjct S4
   9. Distance dist P2
   10. Halant Forms haln S4
   11. Half Form half S4
   12. Nukta Forms nukt S4
