Template:Mem/c

Documentation icon Template documentation[view] [edit] [history] [purge]

Usage

This template is used to create tables for list of notable members. It uses several subtemplates for different types of member lists.

Switches could have been used in the code to make one monolithic template. This was considered, but given the potential for a large size list, it was decided to keep this simple.

Adding more types

To create the templates for another type of list, simply copy and modify {{mem/start}} and {{mem}}. Keep the template names short for simplicity and try to use list parameters already in use. If the template is a variation of an existing one, then update the name with a number; for example: a variation of the fraternity templates would be named {{mem/f2start}} and {{mem/f2}}.

Images

Images may be added and will show in a column to the right of the table. They must be formatted as thumbnails using standard image syntax, and must be set to a width of 100px. Use the standard guidelines for captions. Example:

[[File:Example.png|thumb|100px|This is an example]]

Multiple images can be added to the list. When an image is much taller than others, the height parameter can be included as 100xheightpx (note the x between the width and height). For example:

[[File:Example.png|thumb|100x150px|This is an example]]

Here, the thumbnail is still 100px wide, but the image height is limited to 150px and the width is adjusted to maintain the aspect ratio.

If the column of images runs well below the table, consider using an image gallery after the table.

Non-free images must meet the standards for non-free images; free images are preferred.
