Featured article (Check back later for today's.) സാഹിത്യവാരഫലം 1994 04 24 “ദൂരെയുള്ള വിളക്കുകളുടെ ചുറ്റും നൃത്തം ചെയ്യുന്ന നിഴലുകളില്‍ ആഹ്ളാദ­ത്താല്‍ തിമിര്‍ക്കുന്ന­വരാണോ അതോ ദുഃഖം കൊണ്ടു പരവശരായ­വരാണോ ഉള്ളതെന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പറയാനാവില്ല. മതിലുകളിലൂടെ താഴോട്ട് ഒഴുകുന്ന നിറം ചോരയു­ടേതാണോ അതോ റോസാ­പ്പൂക്കളു­ടേതാണോ എന്ന് ഇവിടിരുന്നു കൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു പറയാനാവില്ല.” പാകിസ്ഥാനിലെ കവി ഫൈസ് അഹമ്മദ് ഫൈസ് എഴുതിയ ഈ കാവ്യം വായിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ ചോരയൊഴുകുന്ന ഒരു വിപ്ളവത്തിലും വിശ്വസിക്കാ­നാവാത്ത എനിക്ക് ഹര്‍ഷോ­ന്മാദമുണ്ടായി. എന്താണ് അതിനു കാരണം? ഇന്‍ഡ്യയും പാകിസ്ഥാനും പരസ്പരം സ്നേഹത്തോടെ കഴിയണമെന്ന് ഉദ്ബോധിപ്പിച്ച ഫൈസിനോടുള്ള സ്നേഹം കൊണ്ടാണോ എനിക്കിത് ആഹ്ളാദമുളവാക്കിയത്? അല്ല. ഇന്‍ഡ്യയും പാകിസ്ഥാനും തമ്മിലുള്ള ശത്രുത പരകോടി­യിലെത്തി­യിരുന്ന കാലയളവില്‍ ഗാന്ധിജിയുടെ ശവസംസ്ക്കാര­ച്ചടങ്ങില്‍ പങ്കെടുക്കാന്‍ ലാഹോറില്‍ നിന്ന് ഇന്‍ഡ്യയിലേക്കു ‘പറന്ന’ കവിയോടുള്ള് അതിരു കടന്ന സ്നേഹം കൊണ്ടാണോ എനിക്ക് ആ വികാരമുണ്ടായത്? അല്ല. ഇന്‍ഡ്യയെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്ന വിദേശത്തെ കവി പ്രതിഭാശാലി­യാണെങ്കില്‍ ഞാന്‍ ആ കവിയെ കവിയെന്ന നിലയില്‍ ബഹുമാനിക്കാന്‍ സന്നദ്ധനാണ്. ഗാന്ധിജിയെ അതിശയിച്ച വേറോരു ലോകനേതാവില്ലെന്നു വിശ്വസിച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തെ­ക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഓര്‍മ്മയുടെ മുന്‍പില്‍ എപ്പോഴും തലകുനിച്ചു നില്ക്കുന്ന ഞാന്‍ അദ്ദേഹത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നവന്‍ സര്‍ഗ്ഗാത്മക രചനയുടെ അധിത്യകയില്‍ നില്ക്കുന്നവനാ­ണെങ്കില്‍ ആ വ്യക്തിയെ സര്‍ഗ്ഗാത്മക വൈദഗ്ദ്ധ്യത്തിന്റെ പേരില്‍ മാനിക്കാന്‍ മനസ്സുള്ളവനാണ്. അതിനാല്‍ ഫൈസിന്റെ വരികള്‍ വായിച്ചു പുളക­പ്രസര­മനുഭവിച്ചത് മറ്റു ഹേതുക്കളാ­ലാണെന്നത് സ്പഷ്ടം. ആ കാരണങ്ങളിലൊന്ന് ഭാവാത്മകത തന്നെ. പ്രചാരണ­പരങ്ങളായ ആശയങ്ങളെ­പ്പോലും ഭാവാത്മകതയില്‍ ആമജ്ജനം ചെയ്യിച്ചാല്‍ സഹൃദയന്‍ രസിക്കും. In the news All the works of Prof M Krishna Nair comprising of 24 books, his famed weekly literary column that uninterruptedly spanned a period of 36 years and other critical articles that appeared in various periodicals will be published by Sayahna under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-Non-commercial 4.0. Mrs J Vijayamma, wife of the late writer had kindly consented for which the entire Malayalam speaking population would be ever thankful. Sayahna have published the first two volumes of history of Malayalam Literature, written by Ulloor S Parameswara Iyer has been published in PDF format and is also available in mediawiki format as well. The remaining three volumes have not yet been into public domain and as such Sayahna couldn't release those volumes. The books were out of print for several years and the University of Kerala who are the original publishers do not seem to re-publish it any more. Sayahna would request the reading public to put a gentle pressure on University of Kerala to make available all volumes of History of Literature by Ulloor in public domain so that Sayahna Foundation, Wikisource, and similar organizations can make these useful volumes to the public for free.

Technical News Sayahna are gearing up for dissemination of mathematical text in this Wiki. Experimental page of an article namely, Cross–Connections, written by renowned mathematician, KSS Nambooripad is available for readers to get a grip of how mathematics can be rendered in Mediawiki. MathJax is the principal engine that renders mathematical formulae and equations from sources that are marked up in [http:www.tug.org TeX]. This is in preparation of the release of his larger volume of research work on Semigroups and Biordered Sets.
