Featured content (Check back later for today's.) എം കൃഷ്ണന്‍ നായര്‍: പ്രകൃതിയെ കവിതയാക്കുന്ന പ്രതിഭ — “ഒരു സൂര്യോദയത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ ധവളഭക്ഷണശാലയില്‍ നിന്നു ബാല്‍ക്കണിയിലേക്കു ചെന്നു. കടല്‍ത്തീരം നേരത്തെ ശുദ്ധമാക്കപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു. ജാനു‌എ്‌രി സമുദ്രത്തിലെ നിര്‍മലങ്ങളായ ചാലുകളില്‍ ഒരു ചിരട്ട മാത്രമുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അത് എന്റെ നേര്‍ക്കു തലയാട്ടുകയാണ്. നീന്തല്‍കാരന്‍ നേത്രമണ്ഡലത്തില്‍ സൂര്യനെ വഹിച്ചുകൊണ്ടെന്നപോലെ... വിശുദ്ധമായ മണലില്‍ നിഴല്‍ വേഗത്തിലോടിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ഒരു കാക്കിപ്പട്ടി (Khaki Dog) വന്നെത്തി.” ഡെറിക് വൊള്‍കറ്റ് സാഹിത്യത്തിന് 1992-ല്‍ നോബല്‍ സമ്മാനം നേടിയ കരിബിയന്‍ കവി ഡെറിക് വൊള്‍കറ്റ് (Derek Walcott) എഴുതിയ മനോഹരമായ കാവ്യത്തിലെ ഒരു ഭാഗമാണിത്. ഏതു ക്ഷുദ്രമായ വസ്തുവിനെയും സംഭവത്തെയും തനിക്കവിതയാക്കി മാറ്റാനുള്ള കവിയുടെ പ്രതിഭയ്ക്കു നിദര്‍ശകമാണ് ഈ വരികള്‍. സ്പര്‍ശിക്കുന്നതെന്തും അദ്ദേഹം സ്വര്‍ണമാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നു. ഫ്രിജിയന്‍ രാജാവ് മൈദസിനെപ്പോലെ. അതുകൊണ്ട് സുന്ദരമായ ʻʻഒഡിസിയെˮ വൊള്‍കറ്റ് നാടകരൂപത്തിലാക്കിയത് അതിസുന്ദരമായതില്‍ എന്തേ അദ്ഭുതം! ലണ്ടനിലെ ഫേബര്‍ ആന്‍ഡ് ഫേബര്‍ ഈ വര്‍ഷം പ്രസാധനം ചെയ്ത ഈ നാടകം (The Odyssey – A stage version, ￡5.50) കലയ്ക്ക് ഏത് അതിരു വരെ ചെല്ലാന്‍ കഴിയുമെന്ന് എനിക്കു വ്യക്തമാക്കിത്തന്നു. ഇതു വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും വായിക്കുന്ന കവി തന്നെ ഒരിക്കല്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുപോലെ ʻഭാവനയുടെ സമുദ്രത്തിലൂടെ കാവ്യയാനപാത്രത്തില്‍ സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്ന പ്രതീതി ഉണ്ടാവും. സഞ്ചരിക്കുന്നത് ഒരിടത്ത് എത്താനാണ്.ʼ സൗന്ദര്യത്തിന്റെ ലോകത്തില്‍ നമ്മള്‍ ചെന്നുചേരും. ഓര്‍മയില്‍ നിന്നെഴുതിയ ഈ ഭാഗത്തിലെ അലങ്കാരപ്രയോഗത്തിന് ഇപ്പോള്‍ തികഞ്ഞ ഉചിതജ്ഞതയുണ്ട്. ട്രോജന്‍ യുദ്ധത്തിനുശേഷം കുറേവര്‍ഷം കഴിഞ്ഞ് തന്റെ ആത്മനാഥ കാത്തിരിക്കുന്ന ഇതകയില്‍ (Ithaca) തിരിച്ചെത്താന്‍ കടലിലൂടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ച ഒഡിസ്യൂസ്സിന്റെ വിക്രമകര്‍മ്മങ്ങളെ വര്‍ണ്ണിക്കുന്ന ഒരു ക്ലാസിക് കൃതിയുടെ നാടകീയാവിഷ്കരണമാണല്ലോ വൊള്‍കറ്റിന്റെ ഈ കലാസൃഷ്ടി.… (തുടര്‍ന്ന് വായിക്കുക)

In the news All the works of Prof M Krishna Nair comprising of 24 books, his famed weekly literary column that uninterruptedly spanned a period of 36 years and other critical articles that appeared in various periodicals will be published by Sayahna under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-Non-commercial 4.0. Mrs J Vijayamma, wife of the late writer had kindly consented for which the entire Malayalam speaking population would be ever thankful. Ulloor Sayahna have published the first two volumes of history of Malayalam Literature, written by Ulloor S Parameswara Iyer has been published in PDF format and is also available in mediawiki format as well. The remaining three volumes have not yet been into public domain and as such Sayahna couldn't release those volumes. The books were out of print for several years and the University of Kerala who are the original publishers do not seem to re-publish it any more. Sayahna would request the reading public to put a gentle pressure on University of Kerala to make available all volumes of History of Literature by Ulloor in public domain so that Sayahna Foundation, Wikisource, and similar organizations can make these useful volumes to the public for free.
