Featured content (Check back later for today's.) ഡി പങ്കജാക്ഷൻ ഡി പങ്കജാക്ഷന്‍: പുതിയ ലോകം പുതിയ വഴി   ചോദ്യം: ലഹരിസാധനങ്ങളുടെ ഉപയോഗം പുത്തന്‍ സമൂഹത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുമോ? ഉത്തരം: കാണുകയില്ല. ലഹരി ഉപയോഗിക്കുന്നതിന്റെ സാഹചര്യമേ ഇല്ലാതായിപ്പോകും. അത്തരം തൊഴിലുകളില്‍ ഏര്‍പ്പെടാന്‍ ആരും തയ്യാറാവുകയില്ല. അതിന്റെ ആവശ്യം വരില്ല. മനുഷ്യര്‍ പരസ്പരാദരവോടെ ജീവിക്കുന്ന ഒരു കാലം വന്നാല്‍ എല്ലാവര്‍ക്കും സമൂഹത്തില്‍ മാന്യത ലഭിക്കും. തനിക്ക് സമൂഹത്തില്‍ അര്‍ഹമായ സ്ഥാനം ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കുകയും മറ്റുള്ളവരുടെ സ്ഥാനം നിലനിര്‍ത്തുന്നതില്‍ തനിക്ക് പങ്കുണ്ടെന്നറിയുകയും ചെയ്യുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ മയക്കുമരുന്നുകള്‍ മനുഷ്യനാവശ്യമായി വരില്ല. (തുടര്‍ന്ന് വായിക്കുക…) അയ്മനം അയ്മനം ജോൺ: ഒന്നാം പാഠം ബഹിരാകാശം   എനിക്കിന്നും നല്ല ഓര്‍മയുണ്ട് — അച്ഛന് ബഹിരാകാശക്കപ്പലില്‍ ജോലി കിട്ടിയപ്പോള്‍ ഏറ്റവുമധികം ആഹ്ലാദിച്ചത് അമ്മയായിരുന്നു. ഇരുപുറങ്ങളിലും ബഹിരാകാശ­പതാകയുടെ പടം പതിച്ച എയര്‍ മെയില്‍ കവറിന്റെ ഒരറ്റം മുറ്റത്ത് നില്ക്കെത്തന്നെ ധൃതിയോടെ വലിച്ചുകീറി. തൂവെള്ള­ക്കടലാസിലെ നിയമന ഉത്തരവ് വായിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ അമ്മയുടെ കണ്ണുകള്‍ നനഞ്ഞ് തിളങ്ങിയിരുന്നു. വായിച്ചു തീര്‍ന്നതും, വലതു കൈത്തലം നെഞ്ചോടു ചേര്‍ത്തുപിടിച്ച് അമ്മ ആകാശം നോക്കി അല്പനേരം പിറുപിറുത്തത് ദൈവങ്ങളോട് സംസാരിച്ച­താണെന്നും സ്പഷ്ടമായിരുന്നു. ഹൂസ്റ്റണിലെ തണുത്തു വിറച്ച ആ പരുപരാ വെളുപ്പാന്‍കാലത്ത്, നിലം കുലുക്കിയ വലിയൊരു സ്ഫോടനശബ്ദത്തോടെ അച്ഛന്റെ ബഹിരാകാശ­ക്കപ്പല്‍ ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്നുയര്‍ന്നപ്പോള്‍, ഏറ്റവുമധികം സങ്കടപ്പെട്ടതും അമ്മയായിരുന്നു. ചുറ്റുപാടും മൂടിയ പുകനിറം മായുമ്പോഴേക്കു തന്നെ കപ്പല്‍ ആകാശത്ത് അദൃശ്യമായി­ക്കഴിഞ്ഞിരുന്നു­വെങ്കിലും അമ്മ ഏറെനേരം മുകളിലേക്കു തന്നെ നോക്കി നിന്നു — കണ്ണുകളില്‍ സങ്കടം നിറയുകയും ചുണ്ടുകള്‍ പിറുപിറുക്കുകയും... Sayahna News E Harikumar The acclaimed novelist and short story writer, E Harikumar has kindly granted permission to Sayahna to republish all his works under CC-BY-NC. The digitizing work is nearing completion and all books (except two) are now available in MediaWiki format in this site. Various other electronic formats are also on the way shortly. It might be worth noting that all his works are available in PDF format in his home site, a rare gesture seen among the writers of Malayalam language, though they make a lot of vocal advocacy for free dissemination of knowledge. Chandu Menon For several decades, Keralites have been reading an edited version of Indulekha, the first Malayalam novel published in 1889, according to a new finding by literary critics, Dr Rajasekharan and Dr Venugopalan. The novel which made a strong advocacy for women's empowerment was mercilessly edited and those who published the book in later years chopped off many such portions. The last chapter (chapter 20) was the most edited one. The critics found the original version of the novel from the British Library in London after several years of search. Sayahna has published the revised digital version of the novel with all the chopped off portions in chapter 20 reinstated. The newly added portions have a different color to distinguish the same easily. The previous version of the chapter is also kept as an appendix. The download links can be found here. All the articles of late Sanjayan (M.R. Nair), the versatile humourist considered to be the greatest writer in that genre after the famed Kunchan Nambiar, are getting ready for release in this Wiki. A few articles have already been released and can be seen here. All the works of Prof M Krishna Nair comprising of 24 books, his famed weekly literary column that uninterruptedly spanned a period of 36 years and other articles on literary criticism that appeared in various periodicals will be published by Sayahna under the terms of Creative Commons Attribution-Non-commercial 4.0. Mrs J Vijayamma, wife of the late writer had kindly consented for the same, a kind act which the entire Malayalam speaking population would be ever thankful for.

Technical News Nambooripad Sayahna are gearing up for dissemination of mathematical text in this Wiki. Experimental page of an article namely, Cross-Connections, written by renowned mathematician, Prof. KSS Nambooripad is available for readers to get a grip of how mathematics can be rendered in Mediawiki. MathJax is the principal engine that renders mathematical formulae and equations from sources that are marked up in TeX. This is to augment ourselves for the release of his larger volume of research work on Semigroup and Biordered Set.
